If you have private medical insurance with Aviva, you may be able to have your physiotherapy paid for by your insurer. Here is how it works at Physio First Rehab.
Before your first appointment
- Check your coverConfirm with Aviva that your policy includes outpatient physiotherapy and how many sessions or how much money is available.
- Get authorisationAsk Aviva for an authorisation or claim number for physiotherapy.
- Check the referral ruleAsk whether you need a GP or specialist referral first.
- Book with usChoose “Private health insurance” and Aviva when you book online, and add your authorisation number.
What to bring
- Your Aviva membership number and authorisation number
- Any GP or specialist referral letter, if your policy needs one
- Details of any excess on your policy
How payment works
We invoice Aviva for the sessions they have authorised. If your policy has an excess, or you need more sessions than are authorised, you pay that part yourself. If you prefer, you can pay us at each visit and claim the cost back from Aviva with our receipt.
Insurers’ rules, fees and approved-provider networks change from time to time. Some policies ask you to use the insurer’s own physiotherapy network or phone assessment first. Please confirm with your insurer before treatment; the clinic cannot be held responsible for claims an insurer does not pay.
What we treat
Insured patients can use the same services as everyone else, including back, neck and joint pain, sports injuries, rehab after surgery and acupuncture, subject to what your policy covers.

Common questions
Does my Aviva policy cover physiotherapy?
Many Aviva policies include outpatient physiotherapy, but cover, limits and excesses vary. Check your policy documents or call Aviva before booking.
Do I need a GP referral to use Aviva?
It depends on your policy. Some Aviva policies let you refer yourself for physiotherapy; others need a GP or specialist referral first. Aviva will tell you when you call.
Was Aviva previously Norwich Union?
Yes. Norwich Union health insurance became part of Aviva. If you have older documents with the Norwich Union name, Aviva can help.
What if my claim is not paid?
You remain responsible for the cost of treatment, so please confirm your cover and authorisation before your first session.
